CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION |
|
Dr. O'Connell is a psychologist psychoanalyst from Newton, Massachusetts who teaches at Harvard medical School and Boston Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. O'Connell will address issues of masculinity and fathering from a clinical and theoretical perspective, describing the internal conflicts that many men feel about the difficulties of being a father but which they are often unable to discuss easily. Such issues include questions about authority, discipline, intimacy, physical contact, and sexuality. He will clarify how the father as a masculine parent plays a crucial and different role in parenting, and how difficulties in that role and identity show up in the clinical space. Additional information will be posted when available.
